How to Help Prevent Water Line Freeze-ups

The City of Crawford Water Department would like to remind residents to leave a stream of water, about the size of a pencil lead, run in your home to prevent freeze-ups.  Even as the temperatures increase during warm spells, the slow, creeping effects of a preceding cold snap will continue to drive freezing levels deeper!  So, don’t be too quick to stop running the trickling water just because it warms up.  The City allows 3,000 gallons a month of free water from December through March.  This is the equivalent of about 1 cup of water per minute.
